You are capable of more than you know. Choose a goal that seems right for you and strive to be the best, however hard the path. Aim high. Behave honorably. Prepare to be alone at times, and to endure failure. Persist! The world needs all you can give.~E. O. Wilson
Heading Back Out Into The Real World
As many of you regular readers know, I’ve been off work since my shoulder injury. This blog is the result of all my free time…
I intended to use the past year to figure out how to make a living via the internet, but that hasn’t happened, yet.
So, I now need to find a job to get me through while I continue to create my online empire!
I know a lot of you are in the same situation as me- work is not easy to find no matter what your qualifications…It’s tough out there.
In my last post I shared my thoughts about this and my inability to secure a job teaching.
The past week I’ve been figuring out what I need to do to start substitute teaching. Some of you suggested this path to me (thanks!) and I had it in mind as a last resort kind of plan…
Sometime within the next couple days I’ll be going to get fingerprinted, sign up and attend an orientation for the company that provides substitute teachers to our local schools.
I already had my transcripts sent to them, obtained letters of recommendation and dealt with the pile of other things that must be handled before you can be in a classroom with children.
This isn’t what I envisioned for myself, but sometimes life takes you where you need to go, not where you think you want to go. Obviously, I have some lessons to learn that being a substitute will teach me.
The good thing is my schedule will remain flexible. It’s up to me if I want to work on a given day, and up to me to find an open position to fill. This will give me time to continue to develop my blog and other online interests.
I still believe I can be successful using just my skills, talents and hard work, but I guess I haven’t reached the tipping point yet.
First Things First
Having an income is the first priority for me now.Once that’s taken care of I can continue to plot out my future. I’ve enjoyed the freedom of being home and not having a schedule besides ones I devised for myself… It gets old quickly though.
I’m ready to head out into the world again, but on my own terms. I think substituting will provide me with all I need at this point in my life- income, free time and a flexible schedule to work on my creative pursuits.
I can’t wait to get back to writing some new posts for this blog. I still have lots to explore and share. Too much of my time has been spent worrying over making money recently, but hopefully that will change soon.
I just hope my friendship with Doug isn’t exposed during the screening for being a substitute teacher… He’s a notoriously bad monkey after all…
