Make The Real World Aware Of Your Blog.

An old Doug card still doing its job…

Saturday is our out and about day. We visit our friends at the retirement community, have lunch and usually do some thrift shopping.

It was in a thrift store that I ran into a piece of my blog history… A Doug business card.

A few months ago, I went around hanging business cards for my blog on every bulletin board in town (and nearby towns). This was at least seven months ago…

One is still hanging on the bulletin board in the thrift store we visited today. I don’t know how much traffic it sent to my blog, but it’s been there a long time. I have to believe at least a few people checked out Doug Does Life because of it…

I’m sure there are a few cards still hanging around after all these months. Each of them is a 24 hour a day advertisement, for free. While I haven’t made a fortune because of my cards, yet, the right person might see it one day.

And if not, so what? It’s free local advertising. Each reader is valuable and the cards are a totally passive way to capture more of them.

Give it a try yourself. Maybe you’ll get lucky and capture some new readers. If nothing else, your neighbors will finally know what you’re doing locked in your house all day and night…

    1. Sometimes it seems there’s a barrier between real life and online life… I’m trying to merge the two and just make it “life”…

  5. What a great idea! I just had business cards made but only to hand out to friends or people I know. It never occurred to me to post them anywhere! Brilliant!

    1. I found bulletin boards in grocery stores, pharmacies, garden centers, dollar stores… They’re everywhere!
