Moving Day

Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.~ Mother Teresa

It’s been a hectic weekend. I haven’t had time to keep up with my blog reading and writing because we’ve been on the go non-stop.

As I wrote about before, my 14 year old daughter is moving in with me full time. Her birthday was a few days ago… We have a family tradition of going to dinner where ever the person celebrating chooses. Yesterday, Me, my wife, my daughter, her friend and my step daughter had dinner at the best Greek restaurant that we know of…

It was delicious, and it’s always fun  to walk around St. Augustine. We left the house kind of messy because of the stuff my daughter has started bringing.

All Doug managed to do was tire himself out and make an even bigger mess…

Doug doesn’t like messes. We returned home to find him exhausted on the steps.

He tried moving the bags upstairs by himself, but only succeeded in making the mess worse… And now the stairs are blocked. He’s a tiny monkey and can’t carry much.

So today we have to clean up Doug’s mess, rent a truck and go get the rest of my daughter’s stuff.

Doug will stay home and nap. He’ll need all the rest he can get to deal with the truckload of mess we’ll be delivering this afternoon.

Wish us luck…

Yay! Congrats Doug:) Happy for you. Good luck

    1. Thanks Shanna- Sorry we missed your birthday party… It was Doug’s fault.

  2. LOVE this quote and your story!

  3. Hurray for messes – especially when they’re filled with children! Doug will adapt and survive! 🙂

    1. He’s fine now. The bedroom is half clean and organized and half mess still… It belongs to a teenager, so I guess I should e happy for the half organized part…

  4. Adaptation!!! That and flexibility are fantastic ingredients! What a super post! XX

    1. Thanks! It’s all flowing smoothly…

    1. I’m glad we provided a bit of humor for you Kevin…

  5. Good luck! We just brought a whole lot of our daughter’s stuff back to Qld from Vic in the back of our car (2 day drive). She has moved back north again. She now lives about an hour away. We had a lot of other stuff of hers here at home when she moved to Melbourne, so now she has moved back to Brisbane, we delivered her stuff to her on the weekend to the house she will be sharing with a couple of friends. Girls have a lot of stuff!

    1. Wow Penny- A two day drive for moving is long! I rented a small box truck to get my daughter’s stuff… She has a bike and some furniture that wouldn’t fit in our van. Girls do have a lot of stuff!

  6. I love the quote… You are managing increadibly well John..x

    1. Thanks Gloria- I’m trying. So much change at once is a bit unnerving, but I’ll make it through.
