Commit To Real Change.

Life is not so much about beginnings and endings as it is about going on and on and on. It is about muddling through the middle. ~Anna Quindlen

I haven’t made any resolutions for the new year. I changed many aspects of my life throughout this past year,  and resolve to follow through with them.

Change takes more than a date on a calendar to be successful. Our reasons for doing and being what we don’t want, why we attract the opposite of our desires, must be addressed before outward change can manifest in our lives.

Change is difficult. I struggle every day to stay on track, to keep my goals in sight. It’s worth it though…

Make resolutions to change starting today, if that’s what you want to do. But don’t do it halfheartedly. Look inward. Find what makes you unhappy and change that first. Change your thoughts… If you don’t unearth the root of your unhappiness, it will sabotage your efforts to change.

Doug is sleeping in on new year’s day.

Doug stayed up too late, watching the ball drop in Times Square and acting like a monkey… Well, he is a monkey, so I guess I can’t fault him for that.

He’s sleeping in today. I’ll let him. In spite of his mischievousness, he’s a good friend and co-author of this blog. I’m thankful that Doug found his way into my life.

I’m thankful for everyone who reads this blog and shares their thoughts with me.

Resolve to be strong and make real changes, if that’s what you desire.

Happy New Year!

  4. Happy New Year to you! I love the idea of No Resolutions! I had none new, just to continue what I am working on…. I have to say I love the photos of Doug just sleeping and the past one of him fast asleep on the desk after ‘helping you out all night’. Very expressive! X
    Thank you.

    1. Hello- I decided to keep going with the changes I already made instead of making new ones as a way to keep building on my past and current successes. To me, it’s better to focus on a couple ideas instead of spreading my efforts too thinly…

If I took a photo of Doug every time I caught him sleeping it would fill up my camera in less than a week!

  5. Upon reading this post I set to thinking about changes that I would like to make in the upcoming year. Honestly, I am simply happy to focus on changes that I have already made in my life and to further implement actions already taken.

It is writing like yours, John, that helps to foster greater motivation within me and for that I am grateful. Thank you and please keep sharing.

    1. Hey Glenn- Same here… I’ve hit upon successes lately in creating change withing myself, and plan to keep building these up.

I think it’s better to be successful in one or two areas than to fail in all by trying to do to much.
