I Can’t Take Doug Anywhere…

He fashions evil for himself who does evil to another, and an evil plan does mischief to the planner.  ~Hesiod

Tiny cypress monks, minding their own business…

Today was another day of exploration… We spent the afternoon exploring Ravine Gardens, one of our favorite hiking spots.

At the bottom of the ravine is a small stream lined with cypress trees. Today, the cypress knees looked like tiny monks making their way to the waters edge…

We all remarked how strange the image was, once our minds saw the monks…

We went on with our explorations, leaving the cypress monks to their business… All of us except Doug….

Doug slipped off at the first chance he saw, and apparently went back to explore the wooden monk idea on his own.

I heard a screech and pleas for help and ran back to see what was the matter…

This monkey can find trouble in the middle of the woods! I can’t take Doug anywhere…

Doug thought it was a good idea to try and pry up one of the monks… I found him like this… He swears that the monks came after him and chased him towards the alligator…

I’m not sure what really happened, but Doug is known to create mischief.

I do know one thing though… I can’t take Doug anywhere without trouble, and I usually end up having to save him… Monkeys…

  1. Thanks for the laugh this morning. Keep up your endearing posts.

    1. Thank you Cheryl… Doug is a little soggy but fine otherwise.

  2. Monkeys lie. I’m just sayin’.

    1. Yes they do. I figured out how to tell when Doug is lying though… When his mouth is open.
